Do you have a boatload of fear and doubt surrounding your own voice?
Finding it hard to let go of your perfectionist tendencies?
What if your own negative self talk didn't derail you any more?
You. The singer who is struggling to get past all your self doubt so that you can enjoy singing and possibly share your voice with the world.
Too many teachers don't talk about the attitudes, emotions and habits that are holding their students back from being the successful artists they can be and I wanted to create something to guide you through that part of it.
Hey, I'm Kim and I'm a vocal coach who's not afraid to get my hands dirty talking about all the icky mindset stuff. You can read more about me here if you like.
I struggled with my voice, my confidence and my health as a teenager and wished someone would have given me some answers or at least helped me feel less alone.
My voice was my identity, the only thing about me that I felt was worth anything.
As you can imagine, this was dangerous for many reasons. If I didn't get an audition, I fell apart. If I hit a wrong note, I'd continuously beat myself up. If I forgot lyrics, I'd feel like a failure.
I wanted to talk about the real problems that are holding you back, the ones that can't be fixed with physiology or vocal exercises.
If you are eager for strategies for dealing with the negative emotions/habits that can cripples us, such as comparison, perfectionism, fear, doubt, self sabotage, authenticity and control, you've come to the right place.
THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF YOU WANT TO...
- Stop feeling paralysed by your lack of confidence
- No longer hold your voice back because of fear or doubt
- Feel like you have the strength to take risks
- Embrace your unique voice rather than comparing yourself to others
- Stop feeling unmotivated to keep singing because you never feel good enough.
THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU IF...
- You feel like you've got the whole mindset thing totally sorted out
- You don't want to touch the tough emotional stuff with a 10 foot pole because it's too uncomfortable

WHY YOU MIGHT NEED IT
This book delves deep but it goes there for a reason.
Becoming the best singer you can be is not about technique. Sure, it’s a piece of the puzzle but it’s in fact the smallest and easiest piece (sorry if that made your eyes bug out of your head).
This book tackles the core issues all artists face that really limit them creatively and emotionally.
You can have incredible technique and the best set of pipes this world has ever seen, but if nobody hears you – what’s the point?
If you don’t feel great about your art and contribution, you won’t share it.
If you listen to your Ego, the negative self talk, you won’t have the confidence to perform.
If you sabotage your career by sacrificing your health, you won’t be able to complete a tour.
IMAGINE BEING ABLE TO SING WITHOUT JUDGING EVERY NOTE
THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH
SO WHAT WILL YOU FIND INSIDE?
I wrote Shine Brighter to be a complete guide for singers to align their mind, body and emotions to become stronger vocalists and happier people.
As well as discussing each of the blocks that tend to crop up as we develop our talent, there are plenty of action steps throughout; activities you can work through to come out the other side a more confident, aware singer.
There are also printable guides such as the Vocal Practise Guide, the Monthly Checklist for the Shine Brighter Program (a month of tasks designed to up your game, wherever you're at) and an inspiring manifesto.
If you like to hone your skills as well as clearing the emotional clutter, there is also a Technique element to the book but with a focus on how YOU can further develop yourself BETWEEN lessons with your teacher. This is not a technique guide if you're wanting that step-by-step training.
You don't want to treat your teacher like a crutch, you want to treat them like an asset. You should feel empowered enough to work on your own voice too.
WHAT READERS HAVE SAID
