SINGING LESSON 1: How to Breathe Properly When Singing
This video is the first in a series of singing tutorials for beginners that I will be posting up every Monday for the next couple of months. I wanted to be able to teach a few of the basics to as many people as possible and video via the web felt like a great way to do this. I overcame my fear of talking to a camera and took the plunge!
The first in the series is about breathing and how the process differs slightly to when we’re breathing day to day. I explain a little bit about how breathing works in the body and why singers and teachers alike are talking about the muscle in the body called the diaphragm. If you’re interested to know what its role is in how we sing, simply click to have a watch.
At the end of the video are a couple of practise tasks to help you develop proper breathing habits and work on getting the most out of each breath during songs. Give it a go and leave a comment below to let me know how you’re getting on or if you have any questions.
If you enjoyed the video or learnt a few things, please feel free to share it using the Facebook, Twitter and Email buttons down below. Who knows, you might revolutionise the way someone is currently singing!
You can also sign up for my newsletter here and receive three free downloadable vocal exercises. Plus you’ll be sent monthly updates, free resources and tips that aren’t on the website!
