THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS TRAINING

The reason I created this in the first place was that I was asking singers how support really works and I got a lot of blank stares. Most of them admitted to hearing a vague phrase (like "use your diaphragm" or "sing from the body") and not really understanding what it meant.

This was exactly where I was when I was learning to sing. It took me years of doing my own work on my voice and seeing multiple teachers around the world to really get a grasp on what it felt like.

And now that I know what it is and how to make it happen, I wanted to share that. Far and wide.

 

 

SPECIFIC THINGS COVERED INCLUDE:

- How the inhale is part of support (and how that should feel)

- Why thinking of it as simply "tensing my abs" is not helpful and in fact can be adding more throat tension

- Exercises to help practice your breath control for a stronger more stable sound

- Very tangible ways to make sure your voice is coming from your body and not your throat (including a pretty handy tool)

- How strong/loud notes and high notes should feel different from those lower and quieter ones

Thanks so much for the information shared. The lowering of the breath was new for me and I think from using the exercises I was tensing my ab region too much.

It was very useful just to grasp the fundamental idea that you need to control your breath *somehow*, so if you don’t do it with your core muscles you will do it with your throat.

I have since watched the video several times. Realising that it has given me my biggest lightbulb moment since I started on my journey to improve my singing technique around 3 years ago.

You will not believe the difference just internalising that concept has made. And the crazy thing is that I worked on that with my teacher maybe four or so months ago. I just had not internalised the coordination to be my default when I sing...

I can’t remember the term you used... but I thought yes!! it has to be what your body does on auto, as its norm... I have been practising all weekend.!
